Bronze Corydoras are one of the most popular Catfish. They have a particular ability to breathe air and so, can thrive in stagnant water. In your aquarium, watch them dart to the surface for a breath of fresh air and then dive back to the bottom.

In their native home, Bronze Corys eat a variety of crustaceans, worms and insects. But in an aquarium, they will also accept flake and frozen foods. Offering a variety, including live foods, will help maintain a healthy lifestyle. Non-aggressive species like Tetras, Swordtails and another Cory make good tankmates. Avoid aggressive species. They are a schooling fish, so keep at least five other Bronze Corys, in a tank that can accommodate them comfortably.

Bronze Corys are shy by nature. So, you will also have to provide them with optimal hiding spots like wood or smooth stones. Try some floating plants to manage the amount of light getting into your tank. In the never-ending search for food, Bronze Corys will dig down into the substrate. To keep your little critters from injuring themselves use fine, smooth-edged gravel or sand substrate.

Named after their colourings, Bronze Cory’s are a golden bronze colour with a large, darker stripe running along the side of the fish. Telling sexes apart is easier for this species. Males tend to be smaller than females. View them from above to see this difference. It is a typically easy feat to breed Bronze Corys from home. As part of the courting rituals, males will chase a female around the tank. Once the female consents, the roles will reverse, the female will start to pursue the male. Once they have achieved their goal of spawning, remove adult fish from the breeding tank.

All our fish are quarantined on arrival for two weeks. During this time, they are treated for any possible diseases and given a complete health check  to make sure they are health, happy and eating well before being placed in our display aquariums, ready for sale.
