The Cochu’s Blue Tetra is a small powder blue species of tetra and a gorgeous one at that. While it has fins that are mostly translucent, it is not uncommon to find slight pinkish shades running through its body which makes it a very attractive fish to add to your planted aquarium.
The ideal aquarium should offer plenty of space for swimming while still providing ample hiding places in the form of wood and thick leaves. Another thing to take note of is that these little Tetra do prefer a low-light aquarium. High powered lights won’t cut it so either reduce the power or add plenty of floating plant species to diffuse the reach of the aquarium light.
The diet of a Cochu’s Blue tetra is one filled with almost all kinds of foods. They will readily accept live, frozen or dry foods all day long. However, like most fish, they do prefer to eat live foods so small daphnia and brine shrimp or bloodworms are a firm favourite.
As an egg-scattering species, the Conchu’s Blue Tetra should be placed in a dedicated breeding tank for best results. Ideally house a small group of male and female Tetra while conditioned for spawning, removing adults after the spawning has been completed.
