A very peaceful Tetra, right at home in a community tank with other peaceful species and lots of plants. Found in pleasantly flowing waterways thick with plants and overhanging foliage and carpeted with a mixture of fallen leaves and branches. All of which sit on top of a soft sandy substrate filled with nutrients and microorganisms. A group of Yellow Phantom Tetra all swimming together in a well-planted aquarium provides the viewer with quite the sight.

Known to be natural omnivores, these little fish will eat almost anything they can fit in their mouths. In the wild, they will happily feed upon fallen fruit, filamentous algae and small inverts found among the leaves and branches. A diet such as this can be easily replicated in the home aquarium. Live Daphnia, Brine Shrimp and Mosquito Larvae along with frozen foods and quality flake food will provide everything the Yellow Phantom Tetra needs to thrive in the home aquarium.

If you are looking for a breeding project, then these will provide a rewarding challenge for fishkeepers of all levels. Yes, it is not impossible to find the odd fry appearing in a mature aquarium but for a more fruitful spawning, it is advised to have a dedicated setup ready. We would recommend adding a group of mixed sex Yellow Phantoms to the aquarium along with a mess of some kind on the bottom. As an egg scatterer with no parental care at all, all eggs will fall to the bottom of the aquarium and ideally, the mesh will allow the eggs to fall through but prevent the fish from eating them. Some fishkeepers use plastic grass for this purpose.

All our fish are quarantined on arrival for two weeks. During this time, we treat for any health issues that may occur during transport and ensure each fish is eating well and looking healthy. All fish are treated with Flubendazole before finally going on sale.
