Yoyo loaches are very active during the day and always on the hunt for their next meal. They will bring a lot of energy and attention to the bottom of your tank.

Most daylight hours Yoyo loaches will spend scouring the substrate for food or hiding in caves and planted areas. By nature, they are scavengers. Known for enjoying the occasional small crustaceans, insect larvae and plant matter. They will consume anything you put in the tank. Feed them brine shrimp and some vegetable foods. Algae wafers are good to vary their diet. A fun activity you can provide for your Yoyos is to put the food somewhere different every time you feed them. Do not worry, they always find it. And, it offers some excitement for them. Peaceful fish of a similar size make good community tankmates. Yoyos do well with many other species and will tend to keep themselves company. But they will stand up for themselves and interact with other fish if needed. With Yoyos, it is possible small hierarchies form in a display of dominance in the tank. It does not mean they are incapable of living together. Divert their semi-aggressive nature by keeping a group of five or six Yoyos together, so no one fish gets bullied to the point of death.

One point that makes Yoyos different from other loaches is that they are not nocturnal. They also have an inquisitive nature. Yoyos can have a rough time with diseases. They have thin, small scales, meaning they are more susceptible to illness. They will also react to medication differently. One of the most common ailments includes the "Ich", caused by a parasite. Loaches are the first to get it and will need half the usual dose of medication. If your fish becomes sick, make sure to quarantine them in a separate tank, mirroring the original tank conditions as much as possible. With natural inhabitants in small pools or bends in rivers, Yoyos enjoy slow-moving

currents. Rocks make up a bulk of the décor as it is easier for them to hunt for food. But live vegetation is also good as it provides hiding spots.

Yoyos have a zebra-like colouring, but the bars are not solid. They split on the dorsal fins, giving Yoyos the appearance that Y-O-Y-O is written on the side of their body. These bars confuse predators as they move along the substrate. When of mating age, males tend to be slimmer in the body than females. Breeding in captivity is difficult. Since Yoyo fish need to swim upstream before spawning, it is near impossible to do at home.

All our fish are quarantined on arrival for two weeks. During this time, they are treated for any possible diseases and given a complete health check  to make sure they are health, happy and eating well before being placed in our display aquariums, ready for sale.
