Acorus Rush aka Japanese Rush
A shrubby plant like this is better suited to ponds. And, generally not recommended for use in aquariums.
Native to Japan and eastern Asia, wetlands and shallow waters are part of this plants origin story. It's long, grassy-leaves may grow to 30 cm (12 inches) in height. It can grow submersed, or in moist soil, but only flowers with at least partial emersion.
Acorus Rush has an aggressive approach to territory and spreads to conquer. The rhizome (horizontal underground plant stem, capable of producing the shoot and root systems of a new plant,) assists in this process. And, creates nearly-seamless ground-cover where conditions are favourable. Frequently used in and around the edges of ponds and water gardens. Divide the fleshy underwater rhizome, to propagate, and plant it the base of shallow water.
