The name Glowlight Rasbora is a small fish found in forest streams where dense growth of Cryptocoryne plants grow among lots of fallen tree branches and leaf litter from the thick forest canopy above.. These areas are very dark due to the overhanging trees and organic matter present in the water. These are also very acidic habitats. This makes Glowlight Rasboras the ideal choice for blackwater and densely planted aquariums.

An ideal aquarium for Glowlight Rasbora would have dim lights. To create the desired dark environment, floating plants help to reduce the amount of light reaching the water column. Adding a mixture of Indian Almond leaves and alder cones while a few pieces of bogwood all help to create the perfect setting. As the leaf litter decomposes, they become a natural food source for these micro predators who will spend their time hunting microorganisms living among the substrate.

Not known for being fussy eaters, the Glowlight Rasbora can be fed pretty much anything and they will be happy. Although, they are micro predators in the wild which indicates they do prefer a high protein diet. We can provide this by offering a balanced variety of live, frozen and dry foods. Daphnia and brine shrimp are some of the best live foods to offer them due to their size.

Breeding is not too difficult and can happen naturally without intervention in a heavily planted but with a few simple steps, it is quite easy to increase the survival rate of fry. Unlike other Rasboras, they attach eggs to the underside of the aquatic plant leaves. We recommend using a dedicated breeding tank and large grain gravel to provide a refuge for any fry that fall to the bottom of the aquarium. If observed carefully, parents can be removed once eggs are attached and fry can be allowed to grow out without the threat of the parents eating them.

All our fish are quarantined on arrival for two weeks. During this time, we treat for any health issues that may occur during transport and ensure each fish is eating well and looking healthy.  All fish are treated with Flubendazole before finally going on sale.
