As one of the most popular Tetras, for their easy to care for nature and their translucent, silvery peach body colourings.

Glowlights will eat all types of food, but a well-rounded diet will encourage a healthy lifestyle, and promote colourings. Because of their size, they will need small-sized pellets or flake foods. Small quantities should be fed frequently so that they can consume enough food, but not fall to the bottom of the tank, as Glowlights will not go for it. Bottom-dwellers may make a good tankmate as they will eat up any food that the Glowlights miss. They like being with their kind in at least six, or with other small and peaceful species, but will not school with them. Slower moving fish or those with long fins will be safe around Glowlights. Except for Angelfish, they would likely view these little tetras as an afternoon snack.

Fast-moving fish may cause stress to your Glowlights. They will also enjoy dimmer tanks, with plenty of vegetation but also room to swim freely. Floating plants will help dim lighting and cause your fish less stress. Glowlights can handle a larger range of consistent water parameters. With age they only become more beautiful, their colours saturating further with time. Males are slimmer and smaller than their female counterparts. It can be a difficult process to breed Glowlights. Prepare a separate tank with very soft water and a warm temperature. Low light is a necessity. Use fine-leaved plants or spawning mats to hold the eggs.

All our fish are quarantined on arrival for two weeks. During this time, they are treated for any possible diseases and given a complete health check  to make sure they are health, happy and eating well before being placed in our display aquariums, ready for sale.

Dead on Arrival (DOA) Policy: In the unfortunate event that your fish arrives dead, please follow these steps: Within 12 hours of the delivery, take clear, unopened bag pictures showing the deceased fish. If your fish dies within this time frame, adhere to the following procedure: Take clear photos of the deceased fish. Using a reliable test kit, document via a dated photo, water parameters (pH, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite levels). Please email us the photographs, water parameters, and order number to getfish@thefishroom.co.nz or our Facebook page. After reviewing your claim, if approved, we will issue a store credit for the cost of the fish. We recommend thoroughly researching each fish species' needs before introducing them to your aquarium to prevent such situations.
