One of the very first fish to ever be introduced as an ornamental fish, the Paradise fish can truly say it is one of the OG aquarium fish. First introduced in the 1800s it has become a popular fish for many reasons. Their colour and markings are striking, their behaviour is entertaining to watch, and their bubble nest building is even more fascinating to watch. A fish with plenty to offer.

When adding the Paradise fish to your aquarium, it is worth noting that they can be territorial and will show aggression towards fish of the same size and of similar appearance. This can be reduced by maintaining a heavily planted aquarium, but a larger aquarium should be used if you plan on keeping more than one.

Feeding the Paradise fish is simple. They love live foods and should be fed live daphnia and bloodworm etc two or three times a week. Algae based flake food should be offered alongside an insect meal-based granule or micro-pellet food.

The Paradise fish is a bubble nest breeder. Condition both male and female with a higher-than-normal level of live foods. Once the female looks plump, you will see the male build a bubble nest at the water surface. Spawning will take place and the make will defend the nest afterwards.

All our fish are quarantined on arrival for two weeks. During this time, they are treated for any possible diseases and given a complete health check to make sure they are healthy, happy, and eating well before being placed in our display aquariums, ready for sale.

Beautiful and healthy

Really happy with my purchase of paradise fish from the fish room. They were beautiful. Arrived quickly overnight and really happy. A lot of care went into sending them safely to Christchurch.
