Aquarium Frenzy: You may have seen the name pop up occasionally, but do you know it is our official Facebook group?
A little over four years ago, we found, as hobbyists ourselves, that we wanted to create a place for fishkeepers here in New Zealand. Somewhere for us all to connect and support each other. After all, fishkeeping has always relied on shared knowledge and new fishkeepers leaning on the more experienced of the community to grow and learn.
There once was a time when information was passed on to beginners by experienced Fishkeepers in person. It was very much a case of who you knew. Eventually, our hobby was blessed with reference books packed with information about newly discovered species and how to care for them in the home aquarium. Our hobby was in safe hands with the establishment of aquarist societies up and down the country. We could meet Fishkeepers in person and share our experiences.
Then came along the internet and, with it, Facebook. The social network connected people across the world - fishkeepers included! All of a sudden, the hobby of fishkeeping became a global community. Facebook groups were popping up everywhere.
When we created Aquarium Frenzy, we wanted a place for the Fish Room Family to come together, share advice, trade fish/plants and, more than anything else, share their love for fishkeeping. During the four years it's been running, we have shared a mixture of content with the members, not to mention keeping them up to date with all the latest deals at the Fish Room.
We recently decided to live stream our Special guest coffee mornings straight into the group. It has allowed the members to join in the conversation as it happens. Not only that, by streaming live, we hope to encourage more people to engage with each other. So if you are not already a member, head over and join Aquarium Frenzy today.
Let's enjoy the fishkeeping journey together.
