Aurea (Lysimachia nummularia), also known as golden creeping Jenny or moneywort, is a hardy aquarium plant. Popular within the hobby due to its versatility. It can be planted directly into the substrate, submerged, and under wet surface conditions within the paludarium setting.
Aurea is a relatively fast grower, and at the same time, it is pretty undemanding. It does well in soft to hard water. Still, even though it does well under low lights and without CO2 injection, it prefers stronger light and CO2 supplementation.
Aurea can be planted in the centre of the aquarium as the centrepiece. Planting in the background can create a gorgeous backdrop for any planted aquarium.
Golden creeping jenny is a good indicator plant for nitrate content and will put on new leaves and shoots when well fed. Lysimachia nummularia tends toward vertical growth to the water surface, then broadens gradually laterally.
Aurea will grow submerged very well, with new leaves and branches appearing ordinary along wet branches that may be present.
