Great perennial plant for beginners. Works for aquariums and ponds. It can be grown emersed and submersed.
Rotala Rotundifolia from South-East Asia has long, thin leaves 2 - 3 cm wide and 15 - 30 cm (6 – 11 inches) long stems. It often forms low creeping clumps. Unlike other Rotala species, this marsh variety has circular leaves. It is undemanding, although it needs high light to produce pinkish-red leaves. It forms side shoots, becoming compact and bushy. And, this also means that it is hard for light to reach the lower leaves. Frequent pruning of this plant is needed.
In a pond (if it is in a warm enough climate) plant in a semi-shallow area. It works near the edge of the pond where it can creep along the surface of the water.
