Ambulia is from Asia, this undemanding, fast-growing plant, has been long known within the aquarium hobby. This fine-leaved green stem plant is a quality alternative to the more demanding Cabomba species; now illegal in New Zealand. Let’s not dwell on their outlaw status, just buy some Ambulia instead!
Ambulia is adaptable and found growing in mountain streams, lakes, rivers – even damp soils. It can reach over 40 cm (16 inches) in height. Submerse leaves are different from the emerse forms; dark green and lance-shaped.
It's common to plant Ambulia in bunches for aquariums, as they're a little shy on their own. Requires moderate to high lighting, and nutrient-rich water. More light results in better growth and appearance. Benefits from the addition of CO2. It prefers 3-25 dKH and a pH of 6-7.5. Propagate by cuttings.
