Best for floating on the surface of the water in aquariums.
Azolla is a genus of seven species of aquatic ferns in the family Salviniaceae. The plants are small, only a few centimetres across. Azolla is a productive plant and grows in abundance. Their roots hang in the water. It can form 30cm (11 inches) thick mats and cover 100% of the surface water. It has many small, scale-like leaves, overlapping each other, this prevents local insects and amphibians from reaching beneath. Azolla looks nothing like other typical ferns, more resembling duckweed or some mosses. They cannot survive winters with prolonged freezes. A blanket won’t help, so it is grown as an ornamental plant in warmer conditions where it can enjoy partial shade or full sunlight. It is not tolerant of salinity.
Sent in a small snap lock bag roughly a handfuls amount.
This product is sourced from outdoor ponds and not indoor aquariums, Sometimes it can contain harmless live bugs.
