Ludwigia Peruensis, or Ludwigia Glandulosa, is a beautiful amphibious plant. It will grow either emersed or submersed.

Native to North America, where it grows on banks of waterways. Emersed it produces bright yellow flowers, in its submersed form, it will not flower. Its spade-shaped leaves range in colour from dark green to brownish-red. The top of the leaves is olive green in colour, whereas the undersides are reddish-brown to deep red. Its height will range from 40 – 55 cm (16 – 22 inches.)

Red Ludwigia is a perfect mid-ground plant in the average aquarium. Or, even placed as a background in smaller aquariums. They need high light intensity. The vibrancy of this plant depends on the amount of light it receives. Poor illumination will fade its colours. Propagate by cuttings.

Great plant

Ordered this to try something different and experiment if I can get it to grow as a floating plant and it's great. Nice colouring and hardy.

Lower my expectation

Communication is excellent although when they arrived, the plants didn’t have the same coloration as pictured. I have an established more than 6 years old tank and the plants are struggling to survive in it. Never mind the reddish colour. Other plants are thriving there.

Live Plants

Got some live plants for the first time and am amazed at how well they came packages and were easy to put in my tank, and they have taken off well. Cheers.
