Hygrophila corymbosa bunched
A fast-growing emersed plant, distributed worldwide for use in tropical freshwater aquariums. Cherry Leafs are unique additions to tanks as the perfect starter plant.
Native to South-East Asia, Cherry Leaf can survive long periods fully submersed. But will do best emersed and will need frequent trim backs. Replant cuttings to create a bushier look. They have thick stems with broad bright green leaves, reaching 30+ cm (12+ inches) in length out in the wild. Expect 7.6 – 10 cm (3 – 5 inches) when grown in a tank. If grown out of the water, the leaves become rounder and darker. Remove any dead leaves from the lower centimetres of the main stems to maintain a tidy appearance. Plant individual stems with a distance between them in the substrate.
New shoots will spread from the stem, creating a bushier plant. They can tolerate a variety of water conditions of tropical aquariums. Best planted in fine gravel substrate and will benefit from CO2 supplementation. Will also prefer bright light for optimal growth. If your Cherry Leaf plants leaves turn yellow, it may be low in iron, or if the water is low in minerals, it will struggle to thrive.
