The Spotted Blue-eye Rainbowfish is an absolutely beautiful fish and when kept in groups of 8-10 in a planted tank, will provide you will a wonderful display of both colour and behaviour. The males are especially great to watch while they flair their fins and show some amazing colours.
Creating the ideal aquarium for these little fish is not too demanding. We recommend a heavily planted aquarium including a small amount of floating plants to provide some cover. Due to their timidness, it is advised to keep them in their own aquarium. This makes them very popular among aquascapers looking for a fish species to complement their layout.
The diet of these special little fish should consist of lots of live foods and high-quality dry food of suitable sized granules. When fed well, colour and behaviour are much more natural.
Breeding can easily be achieved in a similar way to other egg scattering species. To condition them, a slight increase in the water temperature. The simplest method is to maintain a group of adults in a heavily planted aquarium, allowing eggs to fall into the aquatic plants and fry seeking refuge among them until they are large enough to join their parents.
All our fish are quarantined on arrival for two weeks. During this time, we treat for any health issues that may occur during transport and ensure each fish is eating well and looking healthy. All fish are treated with Flubendazole before finally going on sale.
Good fish to watch and enjoy them. Will get more once they in stock :)
