When it comes to keeping platies in captivity, they are a hardy species that can adapt to a wide range of water conditions. They prefer a well-planted aquarium with a sandy or fine gravel substrate and plenty of hiding places. They also appreciate a strong filtration system and a heater set to around 21-26 degree celsius.

It’s is one of those things. We add fish to an aquarium and want to interact with them. The only way we can do that in all honesty is by feeding them. So it’s no surprise that one of the most common problems in the hobby occurs from overfeeding or the excess food produced as a result of overfeeding to be specific.
How well do you know your aquarium fish? Silly question right? Well, consider this, our fish have daily routines, needs, social conflicts and feeding habits that happen every day and many of them go unnoticed by the fishkeeper.

To set up a Discus breeding tank, a water temperature of 29℃ with a consistent pH level of 6.5 should be established. Stability is a very important element of the process and as such, a 10% daily water change is advised, carefully removing detritus form the substrate at the same time.
